TIME TO UPDATE!ITS BEEN AGES SINCE I HAVE UPDATE(though i check my tagboard regularly).BUT now im back.FIRST THING' FIRST!SEMBAWANG SYMPHONIC WINDS HAS BEEN AWARDED GOLD AWARD,87.5%, IN THE 2ND DIVISION FOR SINGAPORE'S 1ST NATIONAL BAND COMPETITION ON 15TH JULY!WE ARE ALSO THE TOP BAND IN THE DIVISION!MUAHAHHA.so happy. And another piece of good news is that Riverside Symphonic Winds has also been awarded GOLD AWARD too ! with a score of 80.00% in the 3rd Division.Cool huh.I have experienced all 3 awards,Bronze,Silver and Gold.Well..not really for bronze because that time i only joined band but was happy for the band to get gold XD yeah.
On 15th july,i woke at 5.45am,sleeping only around 6.5 hours then went to school to see if i can help out in any way. So,when the door's opened, when the members settleed down,i tried to warm them up.played only 2 scales then Mr Neo came,well..at least they sounded not bad when i warm them up.and mr neo commented about it.he said they soundde not bad then i was walking about in the school -.- and when they finally finish tuning up ,they played a bit of accalmation's slow part and was qquite in tune.and OFF THEY GO!Mr neo said they were ready!and great they have now acheived a gold!SSW also,we had practice from 9.30 am onwards and finsih at around 10+ ,11+ ..den had freee time until 12.15 because mr desmond ng say for contest,we must be as relax as possible,if not tense up is bad.
At VCH,we were quite restless(some of us) i felt.haha..when in the tuning room, whoa.time's tight, but we managed..tuneed up ,play a bit and we still have time for those who weren't really in tune,LIKE ME for E.G!!!And when we were out,i have to help out the percussion -_-.and hakim thought i change from flute to percussion when moving the stuffs up the stage.I was rather amazed than Hakim(from SWO,clarinetist) was working for the world music project thingy / bandworld. =X.havent seen him for a long time, surprised to see him there..haha.
When we were up on stage,i saw the judges, and cool.they spreaded out at the circle seats so as to judge..haha.Well,we remained standing until Andrew came in and signal us to sit down before he start condcuting.he waited for the adjudicators to signal before tell us to play concert Bb and 135(tonic chord) before playing mercury.oh yeah,we played Mercury and Noah's Ark.i felt Mercury was quite well played, but was starting to feel nervous for NOah's Ark because the band,or rather Andrew/soloists began to speed up and i was afraid that we might lose the opportunity to obtain a nice award =X(wad m i toking -.-)then i was sweating from parade of the animals until the end of the storm.so hot sia.if not is im using energy to play.hahax.
when waiting for the result,i was holding my breathe and i almost died waiting for e rersult.and when the result came,'Sembawang symphonic Winds, with the result of 87.5%,Gold Award'<-or something like that.=X.i was actually abit disappointed that we didn't get Gold with distinction, but then again, that's too greedy..after all..there's no band with gold with distinction this year, highest was only 88%,TJC.so we are 2nd after them! XD.hahaha..here's the total result:
