Just finished flute-ing say 10 minutes ago? yeah, i know. pretty 'early' now, but no fear, neighbours can't hear my playing so no worries about police coming(even if they come, they should be arresting the workers downstairs who are whacking and removing the tiles).
Seems like i really work/practice better at night, afternoon's prac was demoralising, but maybe it could be due to the afternoon's practice and after a long break then resume to practicing, it was better.
The concert was hmmm~ interesting. Was amazed very much, but i am sure it could have been much better.
Bought Mahler's 5th symphony played by Berlin Phil under Karajan's conducting, ah listening to the 1st movement now, the death march theme, ever so depressing yet lovely(ok wrong term but it's very nice basically).
I wanna go outside, to see the world..

rawr...
This is insane, there's just too many concerts i wanna watch at the end of the year.
SIX!!!! CAN YOU IMAGINE?! say one ticket is . erm. $18.20 (provided still got that discount), that's 6 concerts. that will be about $109 dollars. then plus that 3 dollar charge... $130!!!!!! then still got the flute concerto concert which may or not not watch(depending if i'm in singapore). bla..
Remind me to start saving money. LOL. alternatively, i can just use the money from my pay. LOL, but that wouldn't be very exciting wouldn't it. but painful huh.
Scenario 1 "YAY! I GOT MY PAY!" next moment ... "OMG MY PAY . ALL GONE AT ONE SHOT 'CAUSE OF CONCERT!"
The end.
This sounds really good. Composed by some kid around my age.

why do i feel like. i'm behaving like an emo kid now. lol
If anyone tells you they went like this at 1:54 in a concert, especially classical music.. they are faking you -.-" .. ok that was just too exaggerated...

So i was getting bored in the middle of the night, well if it was lester, he would say 'the night's still young XD'. Lol. but ok that's not the point.
Was browsing through youtube and listening to La Gazza Ladra Overture, Rossini's too, and it came to me... I have never listen to the full overture of Barber of Seville...only know the famous part~ played by the strings.
Which resulted in me coming across 2 videos. One is a live performance, but sadly not video of the musicians, just the music and some posters or something pasted up by the dude who uploaded the video. I think the other was a live performance too, since it looks like they were performing in an orchestral pit. which looks really small and crampy. ok point proven, it's a live performance too.
Here's video 1
And here's video 2
Video 1 is played by.. i don't know who so i can't give any credit huh. 2nd video's by Radio Symphony Orchestra Stuttgart under the direction of Gabriele Ferro(seems pretty young). Basically we have an unknown orchestra vs a German orchestra.
What got my attention was when i first listened to Stuttgart's video(listened to it first actually!), the playing was very fine , very precise. Very neat, melody sound from the winds but somewhat something was lacking, and so i thought could it be... volume or something? i couldn't really find the word. It just sounds like something's missing, so i decided to get another video to compare~ and tadah i got us the unknown orchestra.
So the unknown orchestra, i like the playing more i guess? at least from the winds. The ensemble sound of the orchestra seems to be fuller as compared to the German orchestra, but ok, it could be due to that orchestra is bigger in size than the Stuttgart one, but i will give credit to Stuttgart that they are really neat and fluent. (both are in fact).
But here comes the question: Which would you prefer? A very neat sounding wind section but somewhat the intensity(ah ha, i found the word!) isn't there or rather not enough, while another wind section is that it's very intensified(more than the other one) but it sounds somewhat not as tidy.. perhaps more players or intonation wasn't as brilliant. So neat but not enough or enough but not too neat?
Which one's more desired?
Ps. For those who don't know, Rossini is an Italian composer who lived in the Romantic Period(1820+ - before 20th century), i can't remember the exact date -.- and i call myself a music student. lol. yeah so, he's very famous for this piece and la gazza ladra and williamtell overture. in case people are wondering about william tell overture, it's the piece they always associate with horse race, horse galloping etc. , so there. you got it. don't say you never listen to classical music in your whole life.

hmm.. so i have heard of sso for like ages.. ever since i step into the music scene. but... i guess no one would believe this is only my 2nd time watching sso live huh...
so much for being a band/orchestra geek or whatever they call me. mad musician when i was sec 4 if i remember correctly (oh well, for my class,my i-don't know-how-long-ago de clique)
Shucks.. i can't believe i'm actually blogging. it seems like ages since i blog again...
Scheherazade was brilliant! so was my teacher XD, ah.... how i wish i can play like him, bla... (that better not be just a 'hope', better come true if i wanna become what i wanna be.)
seems like, whatever i do, almost everything has gotta do my future career huh. wonder if that's a good thing or not so good.... i mean yeah more exposure... but... aieh, seems like i'm just trapped in....
..
what some calls as well 'trapped in my own world'.
don't like this.
Saw christopher soh just now in esplanade. whoa, i think he. hmmm... 'aged' hahaha, don't know, looks more mature after getting into ns. been so long ever since i last saw him, ok not so long(saw him just before ny's syf) but maybe i didn't look at him carefully. lol.
memories are funny things aren't they.. they just suddenly come and go whenever they/you like to... some past memories came up, made me remember how good the old days were... miss those days , but not like they are gonna come back anymore, everybody gotta keep moving and not stay on the same spot forever huh.
that's some awesome video i was introduced by a kid :) , ok not kid. but yeah OBOIST. LOL. Looking at such videos sometimes makes you go ' whoa.. she's like really awesome. and she's just.. what? 10 years older than me? will i be able to become something like her someday???' bla...
